Performance Capabilities
Displacing 4.0 L, a V-6 engine block fully powers the 2023 Toyota 4Runner SR5 and SR5 Premium. An electronic direct ignition system regulates the first stage of combustion in this six-cylinder powertrain. Fitted with 24 efficient valves, this normally aspirated engine spits out 270 horsepower and 278 pound-feet of torque. Complying with SAE J2807 codes, a 5,000-pound towing capacity is earned by this robust powerhouse. A five-speed automatic transmission system is an excellent fit for the powerful gasoline-burning engine. Both Toyota 4Runner models are available with a part-time 4WD system and the Active Traction Control technology for excellent all-surface traction. A 9.6-inch ground clearance and the Downhill Assist Control certainly elevate the off-road capabilities of these rugged SUVs. Other notable specifications that impact off-road performance include a 33-degree approach angle and a 26-degree departure angle. These reliable Toyota 4Runner models also have an independent front suspension with coil springs and a double-wishbone reinforcement. Similarly, the four-link rear suspension system includes coil springs for maximum resiliency. These premium Toyota cars also have the Variable Flow Control (VFC) design for the power-assisted steering system.
Interior Amenities
Equipped with standard roof rails, the 2023 Toyota 4Runner SR5 and SR5 Premium can easily haul important items that don’t fit inside the cargo compartment. These versatile Toyota SUVs have jam protection for the power windows and power liftgate for extra levels of safety. Thanks to durable mudguards, all wheels won’t get dirty after a drive on rugged terrain. A moonroof with power tilting and sliding is optional on the SR5 Premium. Both vehicles may be equipped with optional running boards that facilitate movement into and out of the cabin. These family-centric Toyota models also boast a dozen dedicated holders for cups or mugs. In addition to having an under-floor storage compartment, the cargo area is available with a sliding deck for easy organization. Additionally, the 4Runner SR5 and SR5 Premium have a 120-V AC outlet for powering a wide range of electronics.
Design Features
Toyota proudly assembles the 2023 Toyota 4Runner SR5 and SR5 Premium on a reinforced, body-on-frame platform. Both SUVs have a wheelbase of 109.8 inches for proper terrain stability. A curb weight of approximately 4,700 pounds further improves the center of gravity of each model. Regarding off-road deployment, these adventurous vehicles have skid plates that fully protect the engine, transfer case, and front suspension. In terms of styling, these models have standard 17-inch alloy wheels with a six-spoke pattern. These metallic wheels look great with the Nautical Blue, Barcelona Red, Midnight Black, or other paint options on the lineup. Color-keyed door handles and a color-keyed rear spoiler further embellish both models.
