Performance Features
The 2023 Toyota Corolla Cross is powered by the legendary Dynamic Force engine block, which kicks out 169 horsepower. Configured into an inline formation, this standard powertrain pumps out 151 pound-feet of torque. Built on the unique BOXER platform, the 2023 Subaru Crosstrek’s four-cylinder engine has an engineered limit of only 152 hp and 145 lb-ft of torque. This Subaru extracts a maximum of just 148 hp from a hybrid powertrain. In dramatic contrast, the Toyota crossover SUV taps into 196 net hp from a hybrid system. You could add the Electronic AWD system for extra versatility on the road. Similarly, Subaru applies its iconic Symmetrical AWD system to the 2023 Crosstrek lineup, including the hybrid trim. However, this compact crossover SUV runs on a standard manual transmission system that’s a bit sluggish. You’ll enjoy a much better response from the 2023 Corolla Cross’ CVT-iS or ECVT. On its best day, the hybrid Toyota trim gets up to 45 mpg in the city. Subaru advertises a peak combined fuel economy of just 35 for the hybrid Crosstrek edition.
Technology Features
Boosting productivity behind the 2023 Corolla Cross’ wheel, the Toyota Connected Services come with monthly and yearly subscriptions at fair market prices. You won’t find as many sophisticated services from the SubaruLink portal. For instance, Toyota’s Wi-Fi Connect has superior connectivity nationwide. You’ll also enjoy the extra convenience of the Remote Connect application on your smartphone. In fact, this compact Toyota crossover SUV flaunts a standard infotainment monitor that measures 8.0 inches diagonally. Entry-level Crosstrek trims come with a display that measures only 6.5 inches. Both crossover SUVs work well with the world’s leading mobile portals, including Bluetooth and Android Auto. Optional on high-end Crosstrek trims, the eight-speaker Harman Kardon sound system loses the battle to the nine-speaker JBL sound system in the Toyota model.
Toyota Corolla Cross Safety Features
Adopting the third version of Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, the 2023 Corolla Cross lowers the risks of accidents on urban and rural roads. This compact crossover SUV is packed with a bunch of all-new releases from the parent company, such as the Emergency Driving Stop System. You’ll find other great enhancements inside the cockpit, like the Road Sign Assist that shows up on the 7-inch digital instrument cluster. Parallel parking shouldn’t be a problem if you deploy the Front and Rear Parking Assist for the Corolla Cross. This parking-assistance technology even has automatic rear braking when an obstacle is detected. You won’t get such advanced parking assistants from the 2023 Crosstrek’s EyeSight Driver Assist suite. Additionally, nine airbags and engineered crumple zones boost the Toyota trim’s overall passive safety design.
